Next Gen Nutrition Investment Partners & Dunedain Ventures Invests in Bonumose Inc.

Accelerates Scale Up of Disruptive, Affordable, Healthy Sweetener

Next Gen Nutrition Investment Partners LLC and Dunedain Ventures LLC announced an investment in Bonumose LLC, a food ingredient and enzyme innovation company focused on cost efficient production of “healthy rare sugars”.

Bonumose has developed and patented the methods for continuous production of high-purity rare sugars – such as tagatose and allulose – from low-cost, plant-based feedstocks at 5x greater yield than available methods. Bonumose’s patented processes make possible the global mass-market adoption of healthy, great-tasting, fully functional rare sugars. Rare sugars have the potential to significantly disrupt the global sweetener market in both consumer and processed food applications. Bonumose’s lead products, tagatose and allulose, taste like sugar, have significantly fewer calories than normal sugar, have negligible glycemic index, are non-cariogenic and perform like normal sugar in major applications such as baking, confectionary, beverages, and frozen desserts. These rare sugars are well known by the global food industry, but prior to Bonumose’s patented technology and process, they were never cost effective enough for widespread application which can disrupt the sweetener market and have a meaning impact on human health

Bonumose also can upcycle by-product/side stream starch left over from its supply chain partners’ food production. Beyond food ingredients, Bonumose’s enzyme technology can deliver cost advantaged ingredient solutions for dietary supplements, crop protection, animal nutrition, and other industries.

Other investors in this round include iSelect, ASR Group, and the Hershey Company. Ed Rogers, Bonumose CEO explained, “We are happy to have NGN and Dunedain Ventures as part of our investor base and appreciate their experience and support in helping Bonumose make a positive impact on the world”.
